Meet the Coach - he's here all week

One man, many teams, zero plans. Not actually Clueless by name, more by nature...

Uppercuts Round 001 - Stay happy Manny

'Coach, for your first ever MLB experience you've got 13 players ready to go, you need to pick 7.' -Shifty Bob, my assistant.

'Easy enough, pass me the dart board!'

Look I'd like to tell you that there's some method to my madness here, a page out of my coaching playbook which goes great lengths in explaining how I whittled my team of 13 down to the 7 best, ready to step out onto the pitch and hit things for six I mean a home run.
That book does not exist and even if it did, the pages would be all blank at this early point in time anyhow.

No I looked at who was currently highest ranked in Pitchers, Batters and Flex (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean) and went from there. Which means my very first lineup going into battle this round (not game, round, there are many games to cover for my players from respective teams this round) looks a little like this:

And boy oh boy am I happy to see happy Manny make that cut. He looks happy too.

Unfortunately unlike the soccer side of things, you can't pick a team captain on the Baseball side of business (the captain scores extra points each round, so it's best to put that crown on someone you know or in my case guess can get the job done.) but I have all the faith in the world for my team to take on the might of my eh...wait, how many at the time of writing?

21,626. Oh wow, that's a lot of people and teams to try and beat here..oh well, we gotta start somewhere!

Wish us luck!

ROUND UPDATE:

Okay so the results are in, annnnnnnnd:

Happy Manny leads the charge with a great looking 30 points. I'm not sure how that rates in the whole scheme of MLB scoring here at Sorare but it's the best score here, so yay go Manny!
Gonzalez and Urias also had a great game but then there's Lopez. And Long, I'm not sure what happened to Long.

Oh and it looks like I'm completely out of Flex.

No no, Funkmaster Flex, baseball flex...whatever that happens to be (it sounds like string...no wait, that's flax..) because Turner and Wainwright didn't score a bean.

FINAL SCORE: 51.5% A bees tackle above average.

Oh and just like when I order a hot dog at the soccer, in this version of the Sorare series I'm also awarded a new card each time my team does pretty much anything. So we welcome the latest addition to the Urban Uppercuts..

My first Mariner - Andres Munoz!

When not playing baseball, Andres loves his martial arts. So much so he's developed his own version called Lu Kat Mah Fingas where it's all about distracting with your hands while you kick your opponent right in the nuts. When asked how he felt about being the latest edition to the Urban Uppercats, Andres let out a burp and asked where the bathroom was. We predict big things for this year one edition player!

Well that's it for this week, more in store for the team coming soon!

Bash for the Border - Awards night

Well it was a huge night at Smokey Bob's Ribs and Rotgut - the Flavorless Flavs Supercoach AFL Team, their fans, the coach (me) and support staff all met for a drink, a laugh and to wrap up the year that was with a good old awards ceremony. And after the smoke cleared (and the cops were called for a bit of a brawling incident) we found ourselves with the top ten players of season 2022. Let's congratulate all our big winners shall we and find out the very best of the very best.

Bash for the Border - Round 20 - The last dance

The final game for my AFL Coaching Career in season 2022 was run and won. And while I wait for the phone to ring and sort out a juicy deal with Netflix, let's see how we went one last time..

Twelve Golden Schnitzels for table one

One Crispy Golden Schnitzel leaves, 12 enter. It's the weirdest version of Thunderdome ever but it has given me the chance to become an NFT trading millionaire. Eventually.
