Meet the Coach - he's here all week

One man, many teams, zero plans. Not actually Clueless by name, more by nature...

Nada round 003 - The cheapest player is a dollar...

So out of curiosities sake, I looked at the cheapest players you can buy currently through Sorare's soccer marketplace and there's a lot sitting at .66 Euro which equates to a whole Aussie Dollereedoo. Which got me thinking - Maybe I should splurge on five of them and see how much damage a five dollar team could get up to? What's the worst that could go wrong with that idea?

In the meantime, I've submitted some fresh lineups ready to rock and roll again this round. Win lose or draw, we're going to welcome to new members to the fold pretty soon!

Our latest member of the Nada Fajita Tornadoes gets a go this week as Koffi throws on his guarding pants and gets ready to duck, dip, dive and duck (no wait, that's Dodgeball..) goal keep as only he can. Meanwhile the rest of this mob are there because of their recent high scores with Mammana getting to play Captain this week because he had the highest score (or did Charlie? Ahh doesn't matter.)
We had a terrific round in the casual league last week so here's to another one!

Interesting situation last week - I put some good players in the Academy and some average ones in training and somehow team average performed a tonne better than those who should have known better. So off to academy school this week we have some plucked from the lower end of the score board - all had low scores save for Julian who had no score so he's getting extra classes because of it.

Do these guys really need training? Well not as much as the fivesome above really, but still we'll let the tale of the tape at the end of the round do the talking. Some very familiar names take to the well worn green again this week:

Meanwhile over at the market side of things, my assistant Mantaur has been keeping and eye on player sales.

So I've learnt you can buy direct off another coach (where the cheapest player is currently one solid aussie dollar) or you can try your luck at the auctions and try to land one just a few cents cheaper! Currently the lowest bid player is worth 73 Aussie centaroonies and even more impressive, he only has one name!

Yes the two lowest bidded players share the one name trait although they've both got a bid so far which means both Dudu and Felipe will be off to their new owners soon enough. Apparently there's only 1000 of these limited cards of each player and this first one is Dudu number 39.
Can you have a team of just Dudu though if you bought enough? Now that would be cool.

(And can you mix limited cards in with casuals? If you play five limited cards, can you win more limited cards? Should I find some spare beer money and try this theory out? Will my academy team actually do something of note this week? - All those answers coming soon!

RESULTS FOR THIS ROUND

Well it's good news, bad news and something in between.

The good - the causal team had a kick ass round.

The bad - my limited professionals did not..

What helped a lot in the casual team was the fact that everyone in it had a game. Where in the limited side, three did but only Yuji showed up. This is typical for the game and my coaching prowess, just because they look to play, doesn't mean they actually will.

Annoyingly too, my team was doing so well that my projected award was going to be a star card common whatever that was, however as more players finished their round the team dropped back and a tier one was netted instead.

But that's the something in between part which I'll get to in a sec..

Casual score: 82% Pretty good!

Limited score: 3% Not so good!

Annoyingly, I'm still waiting on that tier one card. And the card I'd usually get from the training teams, which came back with mixed results (but they all got some more experience, so that can't hurt!)

By my count there should be four new players after this herculian effort of picking random players to do random things but nothing yet...are they still on their way? Do I get nothing because I have a professional team now?
Do I have too many random players already?
Sorare, some kind of answer would be nice here..

EDIT:

Looks like I got one player. And he must be good because like Dudu above, he's only got one name!

(Actually no, he does seem pretty good. A good last five game average, a slightly better one over the last 15 games - Gerson might just be the superstar I need for the Nada Fajitas!)

Gerson has 15 points in DEX, 18 in INT and loves to use a wand of magic missile.
No wait, completely wrong fantasy game. Whoops!

Bash for the Border - Awards night

Well it was a huge night at Smokey Bob's Ribs and Rotgut - the Flavorless Flavs Supercoach AFL Team, their fans, the coach (me) and support staff all met for a drink, a laugh and to wrap up the year that was with a good old awards ceremony. And after the smoke cleared (and the cops were called for a bit of a brawling incident) we found ourselves with the top ten players of season 2022. Let's congratulate all our big winners shall we and find out the very best of the very best.

Bash for the Border - Round 20 - The last dance

The final game for my AFL Coaching Career in season 2022 was run and won. And while I wait for the phone to ring and sort out a juicy deal with Netflix, let's see how we went one last time..

Twelve Golden Schnitzels for table one

One Crispy Golden Schnitzel leaves, 12 enter. It's the weirdest version of Thunderdome ever but it has given me the chance to become an NFT trading millionaire. Eventually.
